About the role
Under some supervision, performs work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assist with providing input to annual budget, capital forecasts, five-year plan and improvement requisitions.
- Perform varied assignments demonstrating technical knowledge and analytical techniques to solve problems or analysis.
- Participate in company and contractor meetings covering outage/project schedule, safety issues and operations and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist in evaluating contracting methods, reviewing drawings and preparing basic cost estimates using established standards.
- Participate in the planning and organization of outage/project work activities.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and papers.
- Apply problem solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques.
- Understand and monitor labor relation activities; develop and maintain rapport to assure cooperation and productive working relationships with contractors.
- Coordinate work activities of others within work group, team or those external to the company including contractors and vendors as required to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities.
- Make decisions and contribute to team decision making and consensus building.
- Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees as appropriate.
- Pursue effective ways to protect and enhance the environment while providing reliable electricity at a competitive cost.
- Monitors Work and Asset Management to ensure that work is performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Works independently in resolving complex problems.
- Participates in providing training, performance improvements for projects and activities of lower level employees or peers.
- Develops and maintains rapport to assure cooperation and productive working relationships with customers.
- Effectively manages conflict and builds consensus for agreement concerning business and/or work issues.
- Clearly and concisely develops and presents or reviews reports with customers as needed.
- Initiates, leads and facilitates meetings effectively.
- Provides input to routine project planning and schedule.
- Understands the use of scheduling techniques for budget and planning activities.
- Assist in the planning of outages/projects/assignments.

- Monitors work according to schedule and recommend necessary actions.
Requirements
- Coordinator Associate
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR Associate’s degree and 2 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR High school diploma or GED and 4 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
- Work Experience: No additional work experience required beyond the education and experience combinations listed above.
- Coordinator
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR Associate's technical degree and 3 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR High school diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
- Work Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.
- Coordinator Senior
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR Associate's technical degree and 6 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR High school diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
- Work Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.

- Ability to interface and work well with different levels of individual contributors and management is required.
- Experience in business unit operations and business acumen strongly preferred.
- Understanding of business unit financial and operations systems and databases preferred.
- Is proactive in responsibilities and does not wait for direction from management to conduct work.
- Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime and shift work, as required.
- Travel requirements are expected > 50 % of the time.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Listen and identify customer needs/wants.
- Effectively communicate with team, management, customers, contractors, vendors and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of AEP's general terms and conditions and the experience and ability to correctly interpret and administer contracts.
- Position requires working outside in all types of weather and exposure to hazardous materials.
- Position may require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks and meet project/outage requirements and schedules.
- Extensive travel required and possible relocation.

- SG 06: Coordinator – $74,551–$93,189
- SG 07: Coordinator Senior – $87,633–$109,544
