Cook - PRN

About the Role

The Cook prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as established policies and procedures. This role ensures quality food service under the direction of the Director of Dietary Services and/or Clinical Nutritionist.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspect special diet trays to assure the correct diet is served to each patient.
• Perform administrative tasks, such as completing necessary forms and reports, and submit them to the Director of Dietary Services.
• Work with the facility's clinical nutritionist and dietitian, implementing recommended changes as required.
• Ensure all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Assist in establishing a food service production line to assure meals are prepared on time.
• Process diet changes and new diets as received from the Nursing Department.
• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus, ensuring they are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets based on planned menus and special diet orders.
• Ensure all meals are correctly prepared and ready to be served at designated meal times.
• Oversee and assist with dishwashing and daily garbage removal.
• Adhere to all kitchen, dining room, and site HACCP procedures.
• Ensure proper storage and rotation of all received foods.
• Inspect special diet trays to confirm the correct diet is being served.
• Prepare and serve patients' nutritional snacks.
• Assure appropriate cutlery and equipment are provided with each meal and/or snack.
• Assist the Director of Dietary Services in reviewing treatment plans to ensure patients' dietary needs are met.
• Prepare and serve substitute foods to patients who refuse foods served.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1-year experience as a cook or similar role is required.

Pay

$15–20 hourly.

Schedule

PRN, on-call. Shifts available: 5:00 AM–1:30 PM or 10:00 AM–6:30 PM, as needed.
