Overview
We are seeking a Cook who can prepare a variety of food items accurately and efficiently, following food safety and handling procedures. The role involves working shifts from 6am-2pm or 11:30am-7:30pm, including weekends and holidays. The ideal candidate should demonstrate passion for food and service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Refers to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties and completes opening and closing checklists daily.
- Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
- Safely uses a variety of kitchen utensils including knives and other items.
- Maintains proper portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules.
- Handles, stores, labels, and rotates all products according to applicable state laws.
- Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure smooth serving of food.
- Prepares ingredients and understands various cooking methods, equipment, etc.
- Multitasks in a high-volume kitchen and handles hot and cold work conditions.
- Adapts to changes quickly and stands for much of the scheduled shift.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 18 years old
- At least one (1) year of relevant cooking experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Prior experience cooking or kitchen experience in a cafeteria or large volume production facility is a plus
- Experience with safety procedures as typical in a cafeteria or food service environment
