About the role

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable, team-focused Cook to join our school food service program. The role is based on-site at Storm Lake Community School District, operates Monday–Friday from 7am-2pm, and offers a schedule supportive of work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality meals by following provided recipes and ensuring everything is ready for scheduled serving times.
• Support daily meal operations by assisting with forecasting, preparing special diet items, helping with special events, and stocking/serving menu items during service.
• Maintain food safety and compliance by following HHFKA serving guidelines, completing HACCP logs and production records, and monitoring participation trends.
• Keep the kitchen running smoothly through regular cleaning, organizing storage areas using FIFO practices, and maintaining a safe, healthy work environment.
• Communicate and collaborate with supervisors, team members, school staff, and customers to ensure smooth operations and great service.
• Contribute to team growth by helping train new staff and filling in in other roles when needed.

Requirements

• 1 year food service experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, twisting, and other physical tasks.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Able to follow recipes, measure ingredients, and convert quantities for large batches.
• Dependable, integrity, and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Iowa Food Handlers Card.
