About the role

Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to join our dietary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals while following all dietary guidelines, sanitation standards, and safety procedures to support the health and well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities

• Practice proper hand hygiene and glove use during all food preparation activities to prevent cross-contamination.
• Prepare meals in accordance with prescribed dietary requirements and restrictions.
• Ensure food preparation aligns with daily meal schedules.
• Follow standardized recipes and accurately read menus.
• Set sample plates to demonstrate correct serving portions.
• Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner.
• Properly refrigerate, label, and date all leftovers and food items.
• Receive, check in, label, and date all food deliveries.
• Demonstrate proper use of kitchen equipment (e.g., slicers, knives, and other tools).
• Adhere to all sanitation, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of food service experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or medical setting required.
• Nursing home experience preferred.
• Knowledge of dietary and food safety standards in a healthcare environment.

Pay

The pay rate for this position is $17.00–$17.50 per hour.
