Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to established dietary guidelines and menus
- Ensure all food is prepared safely and hygienically, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Aid in planning and organizing kitchen activities to maintain efficient food production
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas
- Communicate effectively with dietary staff and healthcare professionals regarding meal requirements and special requests
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as chopping, stirring, and plating food
- Climb stairs as necessary to access different kitchen or storage areas
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation or cooking, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting
- Ability to read and speak English to understand recipes, safety instructions, and communicate with team members
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks required in a kitchen environment
- Capability to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
