Chief Operating Officer Our client, a private family office with a large real estate and hospitality portfolio, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead operations across a growing portfolio of properties and business interests. Location: This role is primarily remote, with regular in-person meetings in the San Francisco Peninsula area. Job Description: This high-trust leadership role will oversee people, budgets, capital projects, vendor relationships, and operational infrastructure across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is a versatile and hands-on operator who combines financial discipline, strong project management, sound judgment, and exceptional discretion. Responsibilities: Lead day-to-day operations across multiple properties, locations, and supporting functionsServe as the primary operational partner to organizational leadership, maintaining effective communication and independently resolving issues when appropriateBuild, lead, and develop a service-oriented team spanning property operations, administration, accounting, and related functionsOversee organizational budgets, financial reporting, cost controls, and significant expendituresManage a growing real estate portfolio and ensure capital projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standardsDevelop and implement operational policies, procedures, systems, and governance practicesOversee vendor selection, contract negotiations, service quality, performance, and cost effectivenessManage sensitive personnel matters with discretion and sound judgmentSupport property acquisitions, business expansion, and other complex strategic projectsMaintain continuity of operations by flexing across responsibilities and providing direct support when coverage is needed Requirements: Significant senior leadership experience overseeing a major operational function, business unit, or complex private organizationStrong operational, administrative, and people-management experience across multiple locations or business activitiesProven success managing budgets, controlling costs, and overseeing complex capital projects ideally within real estateExperience developing scalable policies, systems, workflows, and governance structuresExceptional communication, judgment, discretion, and relationship-management skills, with the flexibility to operate effectively in a high-trust environment Compensation: Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to: The individual's skill sets, experience, and training;Licensure and certifications; Office location and other geographic considerations; Other business and organizational needs.
