About the role
This position assists the Supervisor and crews in producing quality converted products in a safe and productive manner with minimal waste. It involves training and cross-training employees on machinery and processes, ensuring availability of tools and materials, overseeing crew reliability and cooperation, maintaining morale, addressing crew concerns, and coordinating with supervisors and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Train and cross-train employees on machinery and processes.
- Ensure necessary tools and materials are available for crews.
- Oversee crews and ensure reliability, dependability, and punctuality.
- Maintain and improve crew morale and teamwork.
- Maintain confidentiality and address crew questions, concerns, and problems.
- Train crew members on efficiency and communicate performance expectations.
- Coordinate with supervisor and Maintenance Superintendent on repairs and maintenance.
- Inform upper management of departmental issues.
- Conduct weekly production/safety meetings.
- Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid shift change problems.
- Improve career skills through seminars, courses, and college studies.
- Support company policies and procedures, including safety programs and good housekeeping.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years prior leadership experience.
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
- Able to read and interpret documents, write reports, and speak effectively.
- Able to calculate figures and apply high school math.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities for efficient operation.
- Understanding of cost issues to make daily decisions and identify areas for improvement.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements including wage and hour, environmental, waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements like OSHA, DEQ, and EEO.

$118,000 - $220,000 annually
