About the role
This position assists the Supervisor and crew in producing quality converted products in a safe and productive manner with minimal waste. It involves training and cross-training employees on machinery and processes, ensuring availability of tools and materials, overseeing crew reliability, and maintaining a cooperative atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Train and cross-train employees on machinery and processes.
- Ensure necessary tools and materials are available for crews.
- Oversee crews and ensure reliability, dependability, and punctuality.
- Maintain and improve crew morale and teamwork.
- Maintain confidentiality and address crew concerns.
- Communicate with supervisors and Maintenance Superintendent on repairs and maintenance.
- Inform upper management of departmental issues.
- Conduct weekly production/safety meetings.
- Coordinate shift changes to avoid problems.
- Improve career skills through seminars, courses, and college studies.
- Support company policies and procedures, including safety programs and good housekeeping.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years prior leadership experience.
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
- Able to read and interpret documents, write reports, and speak effectively.
- Able to calculate figures and apply high school math.
Education and Certifications
- May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stands, walks, talks, hears, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaches with hands and arms, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and noise.
