Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

  • Interpret work orders to ensure jobs are set up properly before production starts.
  • Review quality defects with the Quality representative on the shift and make adjustments to equipment to resolve issues if possible.
  • Monitor cycle times to ensure all equipment is running optimally.
  • Oversee all mold changes and processing adjustments, ensuring Technicians are performing duties safely and in accordance with procedures.
  • Review production schedule at the beginning of each shift to ensure proper machines are running to meet production demands.
  • Complete necessary reports and forms to track production performance, employee attendance, machine efficiency, scrap rates, and other KPI related factors.
  • Schedule and supervise employees, assign daily work instructions, and maintain adequate records to track inventory.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe department by sweeping, disposing of refuse, and handling product recycling.
  • Have advanced troubleshooting abilities to determine and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Train employees on the shift to ensure they are properly educated.
  • Communicate any issues with management and molding employees on other shifts.
  • Insure the quality of the product packed on all lines is good.
  • Check the work of employees on the shift to ensure it is completed correctly.
  • Comply with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards by promoting a food safety culture.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Compliance, Collaboration and Availability

  • Comply with company policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
  • Report any discrepancies or concerns to Shift Supervisors, Quality Control or Management.
  • Ensure the quality of work performed.
  • Be available for travel, report promptly at designated start time, and be punctual from returning from breaks.
  • Follow Work Instructions, Visual Aids, and Work Orders.
  • Report Quality Concerns.
  • Clock in and out of both payroll and visual systems accurately.
  • Collaborate with other departments as necessary to efficiently lead the department.
  • Be courteous and helpful to others.
  • Use proper ID techniques for traceability during production or inspection.
  • Be able to work assigned shifts and days, including weekdays/ends and holidays.

Safety & Sustainability Expectations

  • Report any safety concerns.
  • Follow all Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Participate in daily housekeeping requirements to maintain a clean and neat working environment.
  • Care for and report required maintenance of any equipment, work tools, and safety equipment.

Minimum qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

  • Candidate must possess a High School Diploma. Leadership experience preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in injection molding, preferably in the plastics industry. 1-2 years of Management/Leadership experience.
  • Oral and Written Communication skills;
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend written materials and perform basic math functions.
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Forklift License
  • Pallet Jack

Working Environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to twist, bend, pivot, squat, kneel, and climb.
