Controls Technician Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Identify, examine, diagnose, and plan for equipment repair
• Forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize on-site work
• Use cutting-edge software and technology, hand-tools, and blueprints/engineering specifications
• Enforce safety to the highest standards
• Maintain security and accountability of company issued and procured assets

Requirements

• No industry experience required
• Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations in the last 3 years
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be able to safely operate a vehicle, wear necessary personal protective equipment, and navigate various physical tasks

Qualifications

• Technical school certificates and/or formal HVAC training/experience preferred

Trane Technologies offers a robust, four-year apprenticeship program (TAP) for aspiring technicians. Participants receive paid instruction time, on-the-job training, regular pay increases, and a nationally recognized industry credential upon successful completion. Compensation varies based on seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation. Annual base salary range: $22.59 - $30.67. Incentive eligible, no sales commission.

Schedule

The role is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders. Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. frequently and up to 10 lbs. occasionally. They must also be able to maneuver confined access areas and access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15' to 50'. The role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, and noisy operating equipment.

Environmental Exposure

• Must be able to safely operate a vehicle using a seat belt
• Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness, and safety boots
• Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction
• Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands
• Must be able to reach your hands over your head
• Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, up to 4 hours
• Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 375 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less
• Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal
• Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15’ to 20’, and occasionally, up to 50 feet +
