About the role

The Controls Service Technician will provide technician support for Building Automation Systems (BAS), service contracts, monitoring contracts, system upgrades, facility up-fits, and controls-related time and material jobs.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the work schedule as directed by the Resource Coordinator.
  • Responsible for installing, servicing, and commissioning products and systems on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools and meters, follows blueprints or engineering specifications, to install, diagnose, repair, and program Building Automation Systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, site surveys, replacement and modifications of systems and equipment as needed or requested by customers.
  • Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work.
  • Maintains Building Automation Systems by inspecting Trend Logs, Reports, Time of Day Schedules, Applications, Hardware, and Programming.
  • Communicates job status and documents work by completing paperwork on each job and backing up appropriate files to network servers.
  • Serves as a direct customer contact.
  • Supports HVAC Field Technicians by providing technical assistance and offering guidance.
  • Provides training and follow-up training at a customer’s site.
  • Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
  • Provides technical support to customers.
  • Regular travel requirements with occasional overnight travel.
  • Inspects vehicles by checking vehicle condition and literature supplies.
  • Complies with OSHA, Customer, and Brady Safety Standards.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as required.

Customer Service

  • Provide responsive, professional, and diplomatic customer service.
  • Answer customer calls and correspondence quickly and pleasantly.
  • Communicate with customers in a friendly, professional, and patient manner.
  • Perform all duties with the goal of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships.
  • Immediately address any customer’s concerns and requests the involvement of other Company personnel as required.

Safety

  • Follow all company safety programs and report any non-compliance to your Team Leader.
  • Notify Team Leader or Safety Manager of any unsafe conditions.
  • Proper PPE equipment must be used at all times when necessary.
  • Report all accidents and injuries to your Team Leader and HR immediately.
  • All monthly training topics on safety completed and done during the month due.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in HVAC, Computer Science, or Computer Science-related field; minimum three years of related field experience; working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, tools, Facility LAN infrastructure, and Networking concepts; must be familiar with Trane and various other HVAC products.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Physical Demands: Occasional sitting; frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing; constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping; material handling demands include lifting from floor level to overhead, with occasional lifting up to 115 lbs., frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and constant lifting up to 25 lbs.; must be able to talk and hear; vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; work environment requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms, and possible extreme weather conditions; exposure to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment; exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage); and vibration.

  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Ability to prove US employment eligibility.
