About the role

The role involves the supervision of administration, implementation, and management of controls fulfillment processes within the controls operations team. Leadership responsibilities include establishing and achieving departmental objectives and goals aligned with the organization's strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate frequently to Controls Management, at least weekly, with updates on jobs and problem areas.
  • Supervise assigned controls project installations to ensure the implementation of control installation processes.
  • Maintain cooperation between controls teams and ensure resources are shared for optimal use.
  • Carry out management/leadership responsibilities in line with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Ensure quality standards are met for assigned controls projects, processes, and functions.
  • Provide technical support in the field.
  • Perform controls work in the field as necessary.
  • Achieve mission objectives regarding profit, resource, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Monitor process to effectively and efficiently meet customer needs.
  • Work with controls management and technical centers of excellence to establish required skill sets, talents, and capabilities.
  • Contribute ideas to overall business strategy and plans as a part of the leadership team.
  • Interact with sales to ensure smooth handoff of projects from the sales process.
  • Insure high performance controls customer experience through regular visits, inspections of controls job sites, and communicating with contract customers and staff as needed.
  • Keep abreast of products, product design, and requirements for installation and service as well as working knowledge of HVAC principles, especially for controls and the other products/services represented by the firm.
  • Keep abreast of external market conditions and internal requirements to lead through education and innovation in controls offerings.
  • Review project performance measurements and monitor projects through warranty periods.
  • Make recommendations of tools and capital requirements for the controls team.
  • Some travel with occasional overnight stays. 3-5% of time.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.

Qualifications

  • Trade School graduate required with 10 years related experience and/or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • State driver’s license, auto insurance, auto registration, and acceptable driving record.
  • Possession of a preferred certificate, license, or registration is not required.
  • Software skills required include basic to advanced proficiency in specific programs and/or skills, with post-hire specialty software training provided.
  • Communication skills include the ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters, and memos; write simple correspondence; read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, talking or hearing; using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, or crawling; lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds; and regularly lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.
