About the role

Trane in New England is hiring for a Controls Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for hardware design activities for building automation systems. You will apply engineering principles and practices for work on assigned projects and design cost-effective control solutions to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for building controls design utilizing direct digital controls on a variety of building types.
• Obtain and review contract documents: proposals, mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, equipment submittals, etc. for incorporation into the design of an automation system.
• Create installation drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings, and transition to service.
• Develop advanced sequences of operations which meet the project requirements.
• Generate Operation and Maintenance Manuals; review contract documents and conduct job surveys.
• Review equipment submittals for incorporation into design and transition these documents to the field.
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of Trane Controls products and offerings along with applicable 3rd party devices.
• Work with minimal supervision as well as advise and guide other engineers.
• Maintain customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, communicating with staff, providing customer feedback and solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or other related areas; or three (3) plus years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with our leadership principles.
• Familiarity with operation and design of HVAC Systems, Building Automation Systems, and/or Temperature Controls required.
• Familiarity with the concepts of new construction and renovation/retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management preferred.
• Windows operating system and Microsoft Office product knowledge.
• Experience with a drafting/design program is required.
• Understanding of industry standard protocol and requirements for integration preferred.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure and network architecture.

Schedule

Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.

Pay

Annual Base Salary Range: $65,200.00 - $118,860.00. This is a salaried position with incentive eligibility. The actual compensation will depend on factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
