About the role

As a Controls Engineer supporting our Manufacturing Engineering function, you will support the industrial automation segment of all equipment at the Anoka manufacturing site.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, debug, and maintain the machine controls architecture/performance for all site automation.
  • Support site-wide optimization tasks tied to automation, including up-time, equipment throughput, and overall product quality of all mechanized equipment.
  • Support NPI automation initiatives to ensure appropriate product and equipment introduction into operations.
  • Aid in equipment procurement and integration, including reviewing specifications, supporting FAT/SAT activities, and collaborating with machine builders.
  • Collaborate with production controls engineering to transition new equipment into sustained production support.
  • Develop and maintain data acquisition and logging systems, ensuring accurate tracking of test results and equipment performance.
  • Support helium leak testing and functional testing by implementing control logic, sequencing, and safety interlocks for complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Apply modular design principles to controls architecture, code structure, and hardware layouts to improve maintainability and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or other related technical degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation engineering, or production test system development preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, CAN, etc.).
  • Strong background in instrumentation and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting or implementing end-of-line test systems in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with capital equipment, automation hardware, and machine builder collaboration.
  • Working knowledge of database systems used for test data collection.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a passion for building reliable automated systems.
  • Exposure to helium leak testing is a plus.

Pay

Pay Transparency nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range $76,000.00 - $141,100.00 Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
