Responsibilities
- Design, program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems supporting manufacturing equipment and plant operations.
- Develop, maintain, and improve HMI and SCADA applications to enhance equipment monitoring and operational performance.
- Support proprietary control platforms and automation technologies used throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Commission new equipment through hardware verification, I/O validation, functional testing, and startup activities.
- Manage and support operational technology (OT) networks connecting production systems, automation devices, and enterprise applications.
- Configure and maintain industrial Ethernet infrastructure, network communications, and managed switches.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and communication issues across both modern Ethernet and legacy industrial communication systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to support network integration, cybersecurity considerations, and OT/IT connectivity initiatives.
- Maintain and support plant-wide data collection, historian, and SCADA systems.
- Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and automated notification systems that provide real-time operational visibility.
- Improve manufacturing data accessibility to support decision-making, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, automation, and network-related issues affecting production equipment.
- Support and troubleshoot motion control systems, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo systems, motors, and related equipment.
- Perform hands-on equipment support and repair activities to minimize downtime and maintain operational performance.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability.
- Lead automation upgrades, equipment retrofits, and process improvement projects from concept through implementation.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical documentation.
- Document system changes, troubleshooting activities, and project outcomes in accordance with company standards and maintenance management processes.
- Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimize production efficiency and equipment performance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to automation, maintenance, and instrumentation personnel.
- Serve as a key technical resource for controls-related projects and complex troubleshooting efforts.
- Collaborate across departments to implement automation solutions that support business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent industrial controls experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or operational technology environments.
- Demonstrated experience commissioning, programming, and supporting PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
- Strong knowledge of PLC platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or equivalent automation systems.
- Experience developing and supporting HMI and SCADA applications.
- Strong understanding of industrial networking concepts, including Ethernet communications, IP addressing, subnetting, and managed network switches.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial communication systems, including RS-232 and RS-485 networks.
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with manufacturing data acquisition, historians, OPC systems, and industrial reporting platforms.
- Experience supporting motion control applications, servo systems, and advanced automation technologies.
- Knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and IT/OT integration strategies.
- Experience working in high-volume or highly automated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
