Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and trains Controls Techs in programing new launches and troubleshooting production equipment issues.
  • Writes and edits machine control programs to interface process equipment to safely operate production equipment (i.e., program light guards) and avoid malfunctions.
  • Conceives of, plans, designs, develops, and implements new systems and/or processes.
  • Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads, directs technical work for new and existing processes and systems.
  • Evaluates current manufacturing system hardware/software, equipment/controls, resolves problems, and makes recommendations for improvement (include cameras, sensors, and mechanical systems with PLCs).
  • Create and Lead projects to increase equipment uptime using automation as a solution to control cost and efficiency.
  • Works with internal and external resources to ensure all project needs/expectations are met.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and comply with automotive specifications.
  • Assumes responsibility for machine safety and building equipment in respective area.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for completion and achievement of departmental goals.
  • Will provide maintenance operation troubleshooting and production support.
  • May supervise and/or provide work direction to other staff.
  • Know/Learn vision systems such as Keyence, Cognex, Datalogic. Training maintenance staff with new equipment as well as changes made to existing equipment.
  • Ability to upgrade used equipment to run more efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience in a related field
  • Experience with PLC (Allen Bradley) programming required
  • Experience with Allen Bradly and Fanuc robotics strongly preferred
  • Experience with ethernet JP devices, printers, barcode scanners, and PCs preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope
  • Ability to interpret and implement specifications
  • Experience with visual basic, python, ignition

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Maintain proper vision requirements.
  • Maintain alertness to their surroundings.
  • Maintain working knowledge of English.
