Job Responsibilities
- Leads and trains Controls Techs in programing new launches and troubleshooting production equipment issues.
- Writes and edits machine control programs to interface process equipment to safely operate production equipment (i.e., program light guards) and avoid malfunctions.
- Conceives of, plans, designs, develops, and implements new systems and/or processes.
- Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads, directs technical work for new and existing processes and systems.
- Evaluates current manufacturing system hardware/software, equipment/controls, resolves problems, and makes recommendations for improvement (include cameras, sensors, and mechanical systems with PLCs).
- Create and Lead projects to increase equipment uptime using automation as a solution to control cost and efficiency.
- Works with internal and external resources to ensure all project needs/expectations are met.
- Supports continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and comply with automotive specifications.
- Assumes responsibility for machine safety and building equipment in respective area.
- Perform other duties as necessary for completion and achievement of departmental goals.
- Will provide maintenance operation troubleshooting and production support.
- May supervise and/or provide work direction to other staff.
- Know/Learn vision systems such as Keyence, Cognex, Datalogic. Training maintenance staff with new equipment as well as changes made to existing equipment.
- Ability to upgrade used equipment to run more efficiently.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- 3 to 5 years of work experience in a related field
- Experience with PLC (Allen Bradley) programming required
- Experience with Allen Bradly and Fanuc robotics strongly preferred
- Experience with ethernet JP devices, printers, barcode scanners, and PCs preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope
- Ability to interpret and implement specifications
- Experience with visual basic, python, ignition
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Maintain proper vision requirements.
- Maintain alertness to their surroundings.
- Maintain working knowledge of English.
