PeakLogix, an Alta Equipment company, is an industry leader in the Material Handling market segment providing innovative solutions that simplify the warehouse order fulfillment experience and introduce new efficiencies that increase productivity when fulfilling customer orders. We are currently seeking a talented, highly motivated, and experienced Automation Controls Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Systems Project execution, including development of Control Programs and systems interfacing for conveyor and associated automated devices
  • Management of control panel builds, electricians, and other related crafts
  • Work closely with sales, engineering, and project management to research, design, and engineer a variety of PLC system solutions (conveyor, ASRS equipment, Robotic Automation, high-speed packaging equipment)
  • Design PLC control cabinets, program PLCs, and support the system
  • Generate bills of materials (BOM) and order materials to support manufacturing
  • Team with PeakLogix Engineering and field Project Managers to plan and execute multiple system project installations simultaneously
  • Be on-site during installation and testing of solutions
  • Evaluate and analyze customer requirements to provide input into overall solution design and project proposals
  • Work with project management and external vendors to supply necessary information for concept-to-design approval
  • Design and test PLC control cabinets
  • Design, develop, test, install, and support PLC-based controls systems on large-scale automated pick-pack-ship lines, including warehouse management systems using Allen Bradley and Siemens hardware and tools
  • Review layouts for accuracy and details required for approvals
  • Write descriptions of operation and develop detailed RFQs
  • Act as the technical lead for assigned clients and serve as the technical liaison

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Electrical Engineering experience
  • 3+ years proficiency in the use of AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years’ experience developing automation software using Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC hardware and software
  • 2+ years’ experience with troubleshooting and commissioning PLC solutions
  • Experience performing I/O checkout and wiring verification
  • Willing to travel 25 to 35% of the time to customer sites
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
  • Must be located on the East Coast of the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years working with SCADA
  • 2+ years designing and troubleshooting control cabinets
