About the role
The AWS Data Center Global Services team is looking for an exceptional individual to contribute to the Controls & Technology organization by joining the Controls Design Engineering team (CDE).
Responsibilities
- Provide Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) design coordination globally.
- Deliver consistent standards for data center controls systems, as well as overall mechanical and electrical design practices.
- Drive significant reductions in change order expense, scope gaps between contractors, construction schedule delays, single-sourced vendor pricing, and reduced vendor project management and engineering labor costs.
- Manage and prioritize requests for information on new construction builds, existing site facilities support, and legacy site enhancement projects.
- Serve as central point of contact for multiple internal and external groups regarding EPMS design standards.
- Operate in high security critical environments while maximizing productivity.
- Drive innovation of new solutions to support initiatives, team, and company goals.
- Interact with AWS cloud services and other applications to present, archive, and analyze accumulated data.
- Anticipate roadblocks and risks while providing escalation management.
- Travel globally as needed to manage and support project initiatives.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience.
- 3+ years of experience working with electrical diagrams, single line diagrams, and electrical distribution systems.
- 3+ years of experience working with industrial controls systems.
- Experience with power monitoring and SCADA systems.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field with 4+ years of related experience in a professional environment.
- Experience working with electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS), including platforms such as Eaton Foreseer, Ignition, and Schneider PSO/PME.
- Familiarity with utility disturbance monitoring, power quality analysis, and event capture (sag/swell detection, harmonic analysis, transient recording).
- Knowledge of electrical single-line diagrams, electrical distribution systems, complex electrical concepts, and data center redundancy.
- Knowledge of data center facilities infrastructure and operations (PDU, UPS, generators, etc.).
