Controller
Roles And Responsibilities
- Lead daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, expense accounting, sales tax, payroll, and timekeeping processes
- Oversee the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP
- Manage cash flow activities, banking relationships, and daily treasury functions
- Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes to support business growth and data integrity
- Process payroll and oversee payroll-related compliance, reporting, and record maintenance
- Monitor and manage multi-state sales tax reporting and filing requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting processes, and operational efficiency
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while fostering accountability and continuous improvement
- Partner closely with Human Resources on payroll, benefits administration, and employee-related financial processes
- Coordinate with external CPA firms on annual tax filings, audits, and other financial reporting requirements
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and special projects as requested by leadership
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership to support strategic decision-making
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA designation preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong exposure to financial reporting and operational accounting
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar accounting management role
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting controls, and financial reporting best practices
- Experience processing payroll and administering employee-related accounting functions
- Knowledge of multi-state sales tax compliance and reporting requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage accounting operations in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with the capability to partner effectively across departments
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
