Controller
Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger management and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and accounting staff while supporting training and development initiatives.
- Manage quarterly client billing processes and collaborate with operations teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare annual audited financial statements and quarterly internal financial reporting packages.
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and other closing activities.
- Develop, document, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Cook up annual audit and tax support requests with external providers.
- Cook up quarterly Board of Directors reporting materials and presentations.
- Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Perform accounting research and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Develop ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for senior leadership as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Strong experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
- Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Experience with international accounting and foreign currency transactions.
- Background within public accounting, investment management, asset management, or financial services environments preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of key initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation.
- Experience calculating investment management or asset management fees.
- Experience with NetSuite, Spreadsheet Server, Concur Expense, and corporate banking platforms.
- Prior experience within an investment management or asset management organization.
