Controller

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger management and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and accounting staff while supporting training and development initiatives.
  • Manage quarterly client billing processes and collaborate with operations teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare annual audited financial statements and quarterly internal financial reporting packages.
  • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and other closing activities.
  • Develop, document, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Cook up annual audit and tax support requests with external providers.
  • Cook up quarterly Board of Directors reporting materials and presentations.
  • Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Perform accounting research and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for senior leadership as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • Strong experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Experience with international accounting and foreign currency transactions.
  • Background within public accounting, investment management, asset management, or financial services environments preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of key initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation.
  • Experience calculating investment management or asset management fees.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Spreadsheet Server, Concur Expense, and corporate banking platforms.
  • Prior experience within an investment management or asset management organization.
