Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Controller in Bellingham or Sedro-Woolley, WA! Sedron is a leading provider of circular waste management technologies for agricultural manure and municipal biosolids processing, deploying facilities across several North American regions. Since its founding in 2014, Sedron has pioneered innovative solutions, including the patented Varcor® system, to transform waste into clean water, organic fertilizer, and carbon-negative commodities. With strong engineering expertise, Sedron’s processes reduce nutrient pollution, lower operational expenses, and promote sustainability at a fraction of traditional costs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full cycle of accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process; ensure timely and accurate preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control framework; enforce accounting policies and procedures across the organization
  • Cook up and lead external audit activities; serve as the primary liaison with auditors and prepare all required supporting schedules and documentation
  • Oversee tax compliance activities including sales and use tax, income tax filings, and coordination with external tax advisors
  • Manage and develop the accounting team, providing coaching, training, and performance oversight
  • Partner with the CAO, CFO and FP&A team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting systems, processes, and reporting capabilities, including ERP optimization
  • Evaluate and implement new accounting standards and pronouncements (ASC updates)
  • Directly supervise Accountants, AP Associates, AP Clerks, and other accounting staff
  • Provides work direction, sets priorities, and evaluates team performance
  • May participate in compensation recommendations and disciplinary actions
  • Support M&A diligence activities and integration of acquired entities from an accounting and systems perspective
  • Aid with investor reporting, lender compliance, and covenant reporting as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree in Accounting or MBA preferred
  • 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3–5 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role; manufacturing or project-based industry experience strongly preferred
  • Deep expertise in ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics, NetSuite, SAP, or similar); advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with consolidation and reporting tools
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and internal controls; proven ability to lead accounting teams and manage audit relationships
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and financial statement integrity
  • Pioneering leadership and team development skills; ability to build and retain high-performing accounting staff
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to research, interpret, and apply complex accounting standards
  • Effective communicator with the ability to translate accounting complexity for non-finance executives and board members
  • Process improvement mindset with experience leveraging technology to enhance accounting efficiency and controls

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have effective verbal, reading, and written communication skills in the English language

Pay

Compensation for this role is between $145,000 - 240,000 annually. This role may qualify for a discretionary bonus, recognizing outstanding contributions to team and company success.
