Controller
The Plant Controller will provide financial leadership for a large, strategic manufacturing operation in Northeast Mississippi, partnering with operations to drive performance, improve processes, and influence business decisions in a complex manufacturing environment.
About the Role
The Plant Controller will oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities for a large manufacturing facility while serving as a trusted business partner to plant leadership. This individual will work closely with operations to improve financial performance, strengthen reporting, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support strategic initiatives. The position offers significant visibility with both plant and corporate leadership and provides an outstanding long-term career opportunity within a financially strong manufacturing organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead all plant accounting and financial reporting activities
- Manage monthly close, financial statements, and account reconciliations
- Oversee cost accounting, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
- Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models
- Partner with operations to improve profitability and operational performance
- Analyze key performance indicators and provide actionable business insights
- Support capital expenditure planning and financial analysis
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Drive process improvements, automation, and greater ERP utilization
- Lead and develop an accounting team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Five or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Manufacturing accounting experience is required
- Strong cost accounting and inventory accounting background
- Experience supervising accounting staff
- ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Infor, QAD, or similar)
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required
- Public accounting experience is a plus
