About the role
Own the timely and accurate recording of transactions, preparation and distribution of financial statements for both internal and external use. Manage month-end close activities, financial analysis and reporting, account reconciliation and consolidation. Establish accounting policies and practices, and maintain relationships with external auditors. Lead the accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit functions, collaborating closely with the FP&A team to deliver business intelligence. Scope includes all business segments and covers both US and Canadian operations. Reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Responsibilities
- Manage documentation and administration of the Company’s policies and procedures to ensure financial statements comply with U.S. GAAP, with a general understanding of differences between U.S. GAAP and Canadian GAAP.
- Lead preparation of audited financial statements and coordinate with external auditors to facilitate reviews according to the Company’s timeline.
- Direct accurate and efficient processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable across the enterprise.
- Own credit policies and the credit review process for the business.
- Create and retain supporting documents and schedules for external financial reports to enable timely and efficient internal and external audits.
- Manage transformation projects, systems implementations, and process integrations.
- Prepare key inputs supporting tax return preparation and other tax-related documentation.
- Ensure appropriate reviews and controls, including account reconciliations, inventory counts, and other practices, are executed.
- Sustain critical financial processes to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, consistently, and timely for financial reporting.
- Manage and develop the accounting team with a focus on performance, training, and talent development.
- Lead relationships with shared service providers involved in transaction processing.
- Develop talent across the Finance & Accounting organization and the broader business.

Education / Experience
- B.S. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- Minimum 12 years of accounting/finance-related experience; blend of public accounting and industry experience preferred; manufacturing experience a strong plus.
- Must have experience leading teams.
- Experience with ERP deployment preferred.
