Controller

About the role

Our electrical contracting company is seeking a Controller to take ownership of financial operations and guide the business into its next phase of growth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, job costing, and month-end close
• Develop and maintain accurate financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts
• Implement strong internal controls and ensure compliance with industry standards
• Partner with project managers and leadership to analyze job performance and profitability
• Optimize financial systems, processes, and workflows
• Manage banking relationships, insurance, bonding, and audits
• Lead and mentor a small accounting team
• Provide back-up to other departments and staff, as necessary

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader—construction or electrical contracting experience strongly preferred
• Deep understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, overhead burden, and construction accounting principles
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate numbers into actionable insights
• Knowledge of Foundation Software and Payroll4 Construction a plus
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Collaborative leader who communicates clearly and confidently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
