About the role
DTN is seeking a Controller to lead and scale our accounting function at a critical point in the company’s growth. This role is responsible for the end-to-end integrity of DTN’s financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability.
Responsibilities
Lead the accounting function, including General Ledger, Billing, Collections (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Sales Support.
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
Maintain a scalable and efficient accounting operating model to support DTN’s growth.
Ensure consistent application of accounting policies, strong internal controls, and effective governance.
Partner with Finance leadership to shape financial strategy, reporting, and governance priorities.
Provide clear, actionable insights on financial performance, risks, and trade-offs to support business decision-making.
Translate complex accounting topics into business-relevant guidance for senior stakeholders.
Own DTN’s technical accounting framework, including policy development and application of evolving standards (e.g., ASC 606).
Oversee review of complex and non-standard contracts, ensuring appropriate revenue recognition and accounting treatment.
Lead adoption and implementation of new accounting standards.
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, owning audit strategy, execution, and outcomes.
Strengthen and scale DTN’s internal control environment, ensuring compliance and future readiness.
Proactively identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
Drive process simplification, standardization, and automation across accounting operations.
Partner cross-functionally on system implementations, integrations, and data governance, ensuring accounting requirements are embedded early.
Lead accounting support for M&A activity, including due diligence, integration, and purchase accounting.
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
Set clear expectations and operating rhythms that drive accountability, efficiency, and quality.
Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and strong cross-functional partnership.
Qualifications
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) and corporate roles.
Proven experience supporting or managing accounting functions in a complex environment (SaaS experience preferred).
Strong expertise in US GAAP, including revenue recognition standards.
Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic partner to leadership, rather than just a functional expert.
Experience participating in or leading audits, internal controls, and compliance frameworks.
Track record of driving process improvement, system implementation, and automation initiatives.
Emerging or proven leadership capability with experience building and developing teams in a scaling organization.
Exceptional judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in complex and ambiguous environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
