Delta Industries, Inc. is a trusted regional construction materials supplier established in 1945. They aim to provide construction materials solutions that contribute to economic prosperity and quality of life. They are seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead the accounting team, partner with operations leadership, and ensure timely monthly closes, scalability, audit readiness, and continuous process improvement.
About the Role
Lead all accounting functions, including GL, AP, AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
Monthly financial reporting, including execution of timely month-end close process, including revenue cycle, purchasing cycle with accruals, payroll accounting, property, plant and equipment and inventory reconciliation.
Supervision of compliance with internal controls and recommendations for improvements to those controls.
Manage delivery of information for annual audit of financial statements and support process as needed with national auditing firm.
Aid with the annual budgeting process.
Monthly sales and use tax filings.
Fleet truck accounting, including depreciation and required federal and state tax and reporting requirements.
Identify and recommend changes in accounting systems and procedures, focusing on continuous improvement in processes and documentation of accounting procedures.
Collaborate effectively with field offices and support divisional staff as needed.
Direct staff results through coaching, counseling, training, disciplining, monitoring, and rewarding appropriate job results.
Prepare sales tax, property tax, and other business tax filings, and coordinate delivery of information to income tax advisors and finalize returns.
Contribute to proper results by promoting teamwork and high performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from four-year college or university
- C.P.A. / C.M.A. designation required
- Minimum of ten years in public accounting or managerial accounting
- Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes
- Strong background in inventory and cost accounting within manufacturing, building materials, or construction industries
- Proven success running a fast close environment (=7 business days)
Skills
- Proficient in use of various software products such as Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, Access
- Knowledge of BI and experience applying AI to accounting tasks is a plus
- Sage experience strongly preferred
- Experience with implementation of software / cloud platforms
- Strong leadership qualities and management skills
- Strong integrity and accountability
- Able to handle pressure and manage project and deliverable timelines
- Organized and prioritizes in an environment that requires multi-tasking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
