Controller

About the role

The Controller plays a vital role in overseeing the financial health of the organization. This position involves managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting financial reporting for senior leadership. The Controller will also lead initiatives aimed at operational improvements across various functions.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations using QuickBooks
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare financial reports for ownership and senior leadership
• Manage vendor relationships, invoice review, payment controls, and expense tracking
• Reconcile legal services activity and related account-level charges
• Aid in cash management, bank reconciliations, lender reporting, and borrowing base support
• Work with banks and financing partners supporting the company’s loan portfolio
• Support audits, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and special finance projects
• Help prepare reporting and infrastructure for potential securitization activities
• Lead operational improvement initiatives across accounting, finance, servicing, and administrative functions
• Develop, document, and standardize SOPs to improve consistency, scalability, and accountability
• Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements across accounting and operations
• Reduce manual work and strengthen internal controls and reporting accuracy

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred
• 5+ years of relevant accounting, finance, controllership, banking, lending, or servicing experience
• QuickBooks and strong Excel experience required
• Experience in specialty finance, lending, banking, private credit, or loan servicing is preferred
