Controller
Position Overview
The Controller owns the integrity of financial reporting, cash flow visibility, accounts receivable and payable, inventory and cost accounting, forecasting, P&L accuracy, and margin analysis. This role exists to ensure the business always knows exactly where it stands financially and where improvement is required.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Own the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting and monthly close.
- Maintain GAAP-compliant accounting practices and strong internal controls.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Monitor cash flow and working capital with a focus on AR collections, AP discipline, and liquidity visibility.
- Partner with leadership to ensure predictable cash management.
Cost Accounting & Inventory
- Oversee inventory valuation, standard vs. actual costing, and variance analysis.
- Ensure BOMs, routings, and inventory processes accurately reflect plant operations.
Margin & Profitability Analysis
- Perform margin analysis and identify opportunities for profitability improvement.
- Provide clear insights into cost drivers and operational performance.
Forecasting & Planning
- Support rolling forecasts and financial planning tied directly to production and demand.
- Provide timely variance analysis against budget and forecast.
Systems & Financial Discipline
- Enforce financial discipline within the existing ERP system.
- Identify financial risks early and escalate issues with data-backed recommendations.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and develop a small accounting and administrative team as needed.
- Hold the line on financial standards and challenge assumptions when the numbers do not support the direction.
Who This Role Is For
An experienced manufacturing accounting leader with strong plant-level cost accounting expertise. Hands-on, detail-driven, and comfortable working directly within operations. Confident challenging decisions and assumptions when financial data does not support them. On-site presence required; limited flexibility once established.
