Responsibilities
- Satisfactory completion of all training objectives to develop the skills necessary for promotion to the Operations Specialist position.
- Responsible for learning the facility specific operation of various types of power generation units and their related equipment.
- Operate and monitor equipment and auxiliaries by remote control from the control room and throughout the facility.
- Coordinate and maintain unit availability with AGC, preparing and planning for load reductions/increases based on system demands.
- Evaluate plant processes and issue clearances, requiring a thorough knowledge of the clearance procedure.
- Train personnel in other classifications in the proper operation of plant equipment, controls, and procedures.
- Perform regular O&M duties at the site, including housing areas, civil works, roadways, water or sewer systems, etc.
- Work shifts, non-continuous multi-shifts, and overtime may be required.
Requirements
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Must complete at least one year as an O&M Specialist III, Operations, or equivalent skills and knowledge.
- Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit test, and training required.
- Pass a physical agility test.
Qualifications
- Education: A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Must complete at least one year as an O&M Specialist III, Operations, or equivalent skills and knowledge.
Skills
- Thorough knowledge of the entire plant operation as it relates to the generation of power.
- Ability to operate and monitor equipment and auxiliaries by remote control.
- Coordination and maintenance of unit availability with AGC.
- Training personnel in the proper operation of plant equipment, controls, and procedures.
- Evaluation of plant processes and issue clearances.
