What do Production Workers do at Pratt Industries?
Our Production Workers help with all aspects of turning recycled paper into sheets of Corrugated board and getting them to our customers!
Duties And Responsibilities
- Must follow all safety rules
- Learn to read corrugator lineups
- Constantly monitor board quality
- Communicates any quality issues with the crew
- Makes corrections for any board defects
- Communicates all machine issues to supervisor
- Keeps Machine organized and clean
- Maximizes the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed
- Adheres to the daily production schedule
- Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals
- Assists all operators as instructed by supervision
- Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact
- Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping
- Adds additional duties as assigned by management
Education And/or Experience
- A high school diploma or GED required
Reasoning Abilities
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form
- Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations
Technical Skills
- A working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation
- A working knowledge of product layouts and production specifications
- A working knowledge of product quality specifications
- A working knowledge of quality standards
Physical Demands
- Regularly stands, walks, and talks or hears
- Frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions
- Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud

- Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction, and productivity
- Personal growth - each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and his/her superior
