Control Plane & Observability Software Engineer, Hyperscale Line of Business
About the role
The Hyperscale Control Plane Team at Pure Storage is dedicated to building and maintaining the core infrastructure that supports the Control Plane and Observability infrastructure for products in the Hyperscale line-of-business. This team focuses on various aspects of system observability and control plane functionality, ensuring seamless interaction and high performance within these platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust, high-performance, and reliable Control Plane and Observability infrastructure.
- Build infrastructure to monitor key metrics such as I/O counters, latency, temperature, performance, and errors.
- Implement control interfaces (REST, CLI) for areas such as system management, drive management, power management, firmware management, encryption management, and LED management.
- Analyze logs to intelligently determine how to reduce the volume of boot drive logging, and develop infrastructure to support advanced tools like log data recorders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify issues to enhance overall system reliability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development practices within the team.
- Manage and troubleshoot system logs and data to ensure optimal system performance.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Advanced degrees are a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in software development and systems engineering, using languages such as Golang, Python, C++, or Java.
- Proficiency in building distributed systems and control plane functionalities.
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus.
- Familiarity with metrics tracking tools like fb303, scribe, t-digest.
- Understanding of gRPC or other interprocess communication technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
- Prioritization of design sensibility and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Pay
Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.
Schedule
We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara office in compliance with Everpure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
