About the role
The VCCS Shared Services Center (SSC) is a vital part of the organization, focusing on innovation to enhance student success, reduce administrative burdens, and improve process efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Solicits and issues contracts for goods and services as needed by SSC customers using various procurement methods.
- Purchases goods and services above the small purchase threshold.
- Affirmatively ensures all purchases are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable state laws and policies, as well as VCCS policies.
- Applies best business practices to continuously improve performance, compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Manages procurement processes from need through purchase order, including order status and invoicing discrepancies.
- Communicates clearly both verbally and in writing, maintains confidentiality, and uses necessary computer hardware and software.
- Provides exceptional customer service in a professional manner.
Qualifications
- Minimal procurement experience such as contract management, renewals, and contract discrepancies.
- Experience in a customer service environment.
- Current Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO) certification or ability to obtain VCO certification within one year of hire.
- Working knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia & VCCS procurement policies (VPPA, APSPM, etc.), eVA (state procurement system), and AIS/PeopleSoft.
- Professional procurement certification(s): Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO), Certified Public Procurement Buyer (CPPB), Certified E-Procurement Professional (CEPP), or other nationally recognized procurement certification.
