Contract Manager
About the role
The contract manager will play a crucial role in the in-house Legal Department, supporting internal business units and attorneys in the legal review and execution of contracts.
Responsibilities
- Answers internal questions and communicates with internal and external clients regarding contract updates and information gathering.
- Manages contract files, identifies and manages critical dates, and administers amendments.
- Participates in the negotiation, review, revision, and control of contracts.
- Oversees the legal review process, follows up and coordinates contract execution, and expedites various document processes for necessary approvals and signatures.
- Works with Department attorneys to interpret contract language and provide responses to client inquiries.
- Participates in special projects, such as due diligence and related matters, requiring real-time support and administration.
- Maintains master agreement forms and updates, incorporating modifications and improvements.
- Facilitates requests for contract review through the Legal Department’s electronic contract lifecycle management platform.
- Participates in meetings of multi-disciplinary committees and working groups as a representative of the Legal Department.
- Utilizes templates to prepare contracts, both independently and for attorney review.
- Develops processes to enhance reporting and contract management activities.
- Aids lawyers with projects; maintains project overview when coordinating project documentation.
- Works to improve the Legal Department’s use of technology to enhance the capabilities of systems and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Juris Doctor preferred.
- Law firm experience or procurement contracting required.
- Experience with contract lifecycle management tools preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Efficient and time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Technically proficient, able to learn new software quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate legal agreements and apply contracting principles.
- Project management experience and skills.
- Extremely detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
