Key Responsibilities
- Resident Care Support
- When staffing levels allow or there is an increased need, the CCA-Lead will assist with resident care and daily living activities as outlined in the Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) job description. This includes supporting admissions, promoting resident mobility and well-being, and reporting any changes in health or behavior – to the appropriate supervisor.
- Team Support and Mentorship
- Help train and support new CCA staff, including orientation and follow-up.
- Offer guidance on proper documentation and assist with routine charting.
- Advocate for CCA staff and help solve day-to-day issues within the team.
- Education and Development
- Attend in-service sessions and workshops.
- Aid in rolling out new education and training opportunities.
- Look for ways to grow your own knowledge and skills.
- Workplace Operations
- Ensure workloads are balanced.
- Assist leadership in creating evening and night shift task lists, and occasionally work those shifts to support staff.
- Participate in committee work.
- Help maintain good communication and teamwork across the care team.
- Inventory and Supplies
- Gather information of supplies, especially incontinence products (e.g., Tena).
- Help with invoicing and equipment pricing when needed.
- Recruitment and Culture
- Support recruitment and retention efforts by attending job fairs and promoting a positive work culture.
- Build strong relationships with residents, families, and coworkers.
- Be familiar with workplace policies, including fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Additional Duties
- Support the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) program alongside the Clinical Support Nurse.
- Take on other duties as assigned by management.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and build collaborative relationships.

- Member of the CCA Registry (Continuing Care Assistant Program – HANS)
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in a Long-Term Care and / or Community setting
- Experience with scheduling
- Experience in facilitating group education
- Leadership education or equivalent
- Experience considered an asset
