About the role
This technology team designs, builds, and supports critical systems used across OTV, Hulu, ABC News, Streaming, and other Disney Entertainment teams. As part of the ABC Owned Television Stations (ABC OTV) group within Disney Entertainment, we operate in a high-performance, innovative, and collaborative environment committed to quality, employee growth, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and optimize cloud-native and broadcast systems
- Develop and implement standards, policies, procedures, and documentation
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure operational reliability
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance workflows and support business goals
- Manage resources, technology implementations, and third-party partners
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Broadcast Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3 years of broadcast or post-production engineering experience
- Advanced knowledge of media workflow and orchestration systems (e.g., Telestream Vantage, IBM Aspera, Dalet Galaxy)
- Strong experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, AWS media services)
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
- Experience with on-premises virtualization and storage solutions (e.g., VMware, NetApp Storage, Dell EMC Isilon)
- Familiarity with broadcast hardware (encoders, decoders, video routers, etc.)
- Understanding of live video transport protocols (SRT, RTMP, RTSP, NDI, etc.)
- Familiarity with post-production workflows (transcoding, archiving) and non-linear editing, VFX, and motion graphics software (Adobe Creative Suite, Maxon CINEMA 4D, DaVinci Resolve)
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement cloud-native and hybrid workflows
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including Tier 2/3 support
- Excellent organization and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing requirements
- Ability to work early mornings, late nights, holidays, and weekends as needed for outages and/or maintenance windows, and participate in the department’s on-call rotation.
