About the role
The Vermont Department of Financial Regulation seeks a Consumer Services Specialist II to join the Consumer Services Section of the Insurance Division. This role helps Vermonters navigate insurance issues and resolve complaints through investigations and mediation.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and mediate insurance complaints
- Provide educational outreach to the public
- Communicate effectively with individuals in potentially adverse situations
- Explain complex insurance issues clearly
- Mediate conflicts with professionalism and empathy
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or higher and 2 years of experience in insurance operations
- OR High School Diploma and 4 years of experience in insurance operations
Qualifications
- Understanding of or willingness to learn complex insurance laws, regulations, and policy provisions
- Effective communication skills
- Tact and diplomacy to resolve conflicts professionally and empathetically

Pay
As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 22 will be $26.50 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $41.37 per hour.
