North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) is a private, non-profit agency contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California, serving the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We support individuals across the lifespan, from infants and toddlers to aging adults.

About the role

Provides information, advocacy, and service arrangement for consumers and families. Participates in the development, monitoring, evaluation, and revision of program plans for individuals. Identifies and coordinates services, documents activities, and completes forms and reports in accordance with regulations and NLACRC policies. Serves as an advocate for individuals served by community agencies and attends interdisciplinary meetings with individuals, family members, service providers, and advocates.

Identifies barriers to service delivery and implements culturally sensitive strategies that embody empathy, trust, and respect. Comfortable working in underserved and non-traditional office settings to meet community needs. Rotates officer-of-the-day duties, assists co-workers with special projects, provides case coverage, and delivers emergency on-call services when required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and coordinate services for individuals and their families.
• Complete documentation, forms, and reports in compliance with regulations and NLACRC policies.
• Serve as an advocate for individuals served by community agencies.
• Schedule and attend interdisciplinary meetings with individuals, family members, service providers, and advocates.
• Identify barriers to service delivery and implement culturally sensitive strategies.
• Rotate officer-of-the-day duties, assist co-workers with special projects, provide case coverage, and deliver emergency on-call services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or related human services field and at least two years of related experience. A Master’s degree in a related subject may substitute for experience.
• Understanding of family systems and appreciation for person-centered planning and thinking.
• Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word and MS Outlook.
• Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation, or acceptable substitute.
• Comfort working with a high degree of independence and in community-based settings (homes, community locations, or office).
• Frequent telephone, virtual, and out-of-office meetings required.
• Bilingual Spanish may be required dependent upon position.

Pay

This position is non-exempt. Regular salary range: $26.86 - $37.96 per hour, plus $69.24 per bi-weekly pay period for bilingual services. Starting salary is typically between $26.86 and $29.65, depending on internal equity and experience.

The actual amount offered within the posted salary range will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, and other relevant job-related considerations. The lower end applies to candidates with minimum qualifications or limited experience; the higher end applies to seasoned candidates with considerable direct relevant experience.
