About the role

The North Carolina Real Estate Commission is seeking a Consumer Protection Officer to join the Regulatory Affairs Division. This role performs advanced investigative and analytical work related to consumer complaints involving real estate brokerage activity.

The Consumer Protection Officer reviews and analyzes complaint information, conducts inquiries through written and telephone communication, gathers evidence from licensees and public records, and recommends case disposition based on the facts and applicable laws and rules. The position also responds to public inquiries, teaches the *Issues and Answers* course, assists with rule development, and prepares articles for Commission publications.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
  • At least one year of experience in real estate brokerage, customer service and information, consumer complaints, claims adjustment or related work involving public contact and interpretation of contracts, agreements, laws, rules, and regulations requiring communicative skills
  • Possession of a valid NC Real Estate Broker's License
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License without restrictions that could hinder performance of required duties
