About the role

Positions allocable to this class provide specialized consultative services on a per visit basis. These roles require specialized expertise in various medical fields and involve performing medical services, providing consultations, conducting studies, and analyzing data.

Responsibilities

  • Performs medical services in a specialized field.
  • Provides specialized consultation to other physicians and related professional personnel.
  • Conducts studies to obtain data, and analyzes data to advise on or recommend solutions, utilizing knowledge of theory or principles of specific discipline or field of specialization.

Requirements

  • Successfully fulfilled a residency accredited by an American Specialty Board in one or more specialties* or received equivalent training.
  • Residencies may include Preventive Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Family Practice, Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Neurosurgery, Thoracic Surgery, OB-GYN, Pathology, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Nuclear Medicine.
  • California State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Desirable Qualification

Additional credit will be given to applicants who possess specialized experience beyond board certification. This may include experience in areas such as Preventive Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Family Practice, Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Neurosurgery, Thoracic Surgery, OB-GYN, Pathology, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Nuclear Medicine, and other related fields.

Physical Requirements

This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Special Requirements

  • The required license and/or certificate needs to be current and unrestricted; conditional, provisional, probationary or restricted licenses and/or certificates cannot be accepted.
