Consultant Physician
The Consultant Physician in Acute/General Medicine or Emergency Medicine role in NHS Shetland offers a unique opportunity to work in a small, integrated health service serving 23,000 people across 15 islands. The position is available on a full-time or flexible part-time basis, with a salary range of £111,430 - £148,064 per annum (pro rata for part time posts).
About the role
As a Consultant Physician, you will provide initial care for acutely unwell adults and children across a range of medical presentations. You will also manage inpatient cases and provide cover for the medical ward overnight when on call and at weekends.
Responsibilities

- Collaborate with other consultants in acute and emergency medicine
- Seek support from local colleagues and specialist colleagues in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
- Participate in a blended model of full-time and part-time posts, with a focus on maintaining clinical skills and special interests
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have an Acute or General Medicine background and be willing to provide initial paediatric care, although discussions about this can be arranged.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a relevant medical qualification and be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).
Skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Pay & Schedule
The salary range is £111,430 - £148,064 per annum (pro rata for part time posts), with the option to work either full-time or part-time on a flexible schedule.
Schedule
The role involves working in a team to cover the 24/7 rota for Acute Medicine in Shetland with an on-call commitment of 1:4 prospectively. This is a full-time post (WTE 1.0) with a standard contract or part-time posts with a contract for 30 weeks per year (WTE 0.7 for 1:4 on call).
