About the role

The job of Consultant Physician in Acute or General Medicine in the Gilbert Bain Hospital is for someone who wishes to practice a wide-ranging role as generalist and not that of a super specialist or narrow focused physician. The medical team works closely and collaboratively together offering mutual support and advice.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial care for acutely unwell adults across a range of medical presentations.
• Have a number of inpatients under their name as well as providing general medical clinics.

Requirements

An interest in Medicine for the Elderly is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

Relevant travel and accommodation costs will be covered by NHS Shetland but may be classed as a Benefit in Kind and subject to tax.

Skills

None specifically listed, but a generalist approach to medicine is preferred.

Benefits

• Distant Island Allowance of £2,578 per annum.

Pay

Salary in range £111,430 - £148,064 per annum.

Full Time – 40 hours per week.
