About the role
Provides forensic consulting services requiring electrical engineering expertise for insurance, legal, industrial, and other clients. Assesses and determines the cause and origin of electrical failures and damages. Provides oral and written reports of findings and, when needed, expert testimony.
Responsibilities
- Performs investigation and analysis within the field of electrical engineering based on a scope of work and budget agreed upon by the client.
- Prepares oral and written reports documenting causes of failure, extent of loss, repair scope, and recommended remediation; provides expert testimony in litigation matters.
- Manages multiple projects, coordinating with other experts to produce client reports in a timely manner.
- Ensures procedural compliance and safety features during project execution.
- Uses various tools and techniques, including chemical testing applications, drafting and design software, electrical testing devices, land surveying techniques, and others.
- Follows land use laws and regulations.
- May supervise and evaluate the performance of associate team members.
- Develops and maintains mutually beneficial client relationships.
- Gathers photographic evidence, conducts on-site investigations, oversees field testing, and reviews historical documentation.
- Climbs ladders, walks on roofs, enters confined spaces, shovels debris, moves furniture, and operates lifts as applicable.
Requirements
- High level of analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong client interaction and communication skills at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and computer-assisted engineering/design software.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific/technical reports, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to write scopes-of-work, budget estimates, schedules, reports, proposals, and technical documents.
- Capable of presenting information to management, clients, public groups, or boards of directors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License required.
- 2-10 years of experience.
- Project Management and/or Field Investigation experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Depending on location, additional licenses or certifications may be required.
