The Technology P&C E&S Specialty Emerging Business team partners closely with IT and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that drive emerging business opportunities, innovation, and growth.

As a Technical Project Manager, you will lead delivery across technology and business teams, managing project plans, dependencies, risks, budgets, and financial forecasts to ensure successful execution and achievement of business objectives. This role requires highly effective communication, executive presence, and the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder perspectives in a complex, matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end delivery of expected business outcomes, benefit realization, incremental value, planning, and dependency scope definition.
  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to protect data and technology solutions from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Provide communication, critical issue visibility, and change management guidance to deliver business outcomes.
  • Facilitate contract negotiations, statement of work development, and vendor oversight toward expected goals.
  • Prioritize deliverables, manage moderate to complex issues/risks, and govern dependencies.
  • Deliver status/health reports to track value delivery (e.g., KPIs), optimize flow of value, and ensure demand/capacity alignment.
  • Manage medium to large project/product financials.
  • Serve as a mentor to others on delivering business outcomes, benefit realization, agile delivery, and Lean principles.

Requirements

  • Technology Program Management and/or Technical Project Management experience.
  • Proven success leading complex technology initiatives, including budget management, forecasting, risk mitigation, dependency management, and executive-level reporting.
  • Strong facilitation, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Flexibility to support meetings and project deliverables across multiple time zones, as needed.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable operating in ambiguous environments while providing clarity and maintaining momentum.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate studies (bachelor’s degree preferred) in management information systems, engineering, math, computer science, data analytics, or comparable experience and education.
  • Technology certifications or PMI, SAFe, Agile, or Lean designations are encouraged.
  • Six or more years of experience in technology or a related field.
  • Three years of demonstrated proficiency in delivering outcomes/projects.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and/or industry trends.
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus.

Skills

  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations.
  • Aptitude to influence, establish relationships, and set priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of associates, senior management, and/or vendors.

Schedule

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring employees to work on-site two days per week at one of Nationwide’s office locations in Scottsdale, AZ; Des Moines, IA; or Columbus, OH. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of one of these locations.

Pay

The national salary range for this role is $118,000.00–$222,000.00. The expected starting salary range is $118,000.00–$178,000.00, with placement determined by skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope, complexity, and location of the role.
