About the role

Under the guidance of your crew foreman, you will learn and apply Morton Buildings' safety and construction procedures while efficiently constructing buildings using various tools and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and build according to construction plans
  • Utilize tools and equipment to safely and efficiently construct buildings
  • Execute tasks including:
    • Digging and installing footings
    • Framing walls and roof structures
    • Installing windows, doors, and door openings
    • Installing siding and roofing materials (hi-rib steel, shingles, wood, mortarless masonry)
    • Finishing with metal and wood trims
  • Work collaboratively in a safe, organized, and productive environment
  • Comply with all safety processes and procedures
  • Maintain and operate construction tools safely

Requirements

  • Building construction (post-frame), carpentry, or framing experience preferred (on the job or in school)
  • Willingness to complete a training program
  • Valid driver’s license preferred; Class A CDL highly desired
  • Available to work 9-10 hours during peak construction season
  • Ability to take direction and produce quality work efficiently
  • Standard weight lifting: 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Capable of working in physically demanding environments and at heights up to 40 feet
  • 10% travel required (based on 52 weeks), including overnight stays up to two weeks at a time

Pay

$21.00 to $23.00 per hour based on experience. Earn an additional $2,000 in your first year, plus a $500 quarterly retention bonus during the first year (subject to applicable withholding taxes). Eligible for three years of progressive pay increases based on experience, training, and attendance.
