About the role
The Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Building Services oversees preventive maintenance, general repairs, small construction projects, snow removal, landscaping services, janitorial services, and other essential building functions. The Construction Superintendent I supervises the Construction Branch Special Events staff, including projects at state buildings.
Responsibilities
- Supervise tenant relations and customer service
- Ensure materials and equipment are available for efficient staff performance
- Assist Construction Superintendent II in daily tasks
- Perform renovations, preventative maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on properties
- Work with other craftsmen and staff to complete construction projects
- Understand and adhere to company policies, standards, and safety guidelines
- Maintain and predict rotating stock inventory with a solid knowledge of Life Cycle Management
- Communicate effectively with the public and employees
- Lead a team with strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills
Requirements
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree
- Three years of experience as construction estimator, general contractor, architect, engineer, construction superintendent, or supervising one or more trade crews in major construction, renovation, or maintenance repair projects
- Tact, diplomacy, and broad-based knowledge essential for success
- Good written and verbal communication skills
