Position Summary

The Construction Scheduler I plays an important role in keeping HBS projects on track, partnering with project managers, engineers, designers, superintendents, and trade partners to build and maintain schedules for small projects. Working closely with their supervisor and project teams, the Construction Scheduler I helps plan and sequence projects from conceptual design through construction completion. This includes researching the full range of impacts to a schedule, such as client changes, changing field conditions, change orders, trade partner impacts, and economic, environmental, and other factors that may affect project success. The Construction Scheduler I also cost loads each project and produces a schedule of values to support billing and revenue forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under close supervision, work closely with project managers and field leaders to keep schedules updated and inform them of any potential issues.
  • Aid team in developing and monitoring schedules and report variance from established deadlines.
  • Aid in the planning and scheduling of projects from conceptual planning to construction completion.
  • Perform tasks related to the collection of schedule data required to monitor project progress.
  • Integrate individual project schedules into a master project schedule, with guidance.
  • Generate basic forecasts, variance reports and other documentation used to monitor project timelines.
  • Communicate basic scheduling updates to project teams and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design activities are included in project schedules.
  • Work with supervisor to identify potential scheduling delays and escalate them to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Complete all software training designated by HBS.
  • Stay current on knowledge of procurement, construction terminology and concepts to develop and maintain critical path logic networks.
  • Adhere to established practices and procedures and support process improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in field relevant to construction or engineering preferred. Years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of requisite education.
  • Two years of relevant experience required in construction management or related field.
  • Procore, Outbuild and Microsoft Project certification and training strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and to recommend and analyze pragmatic solutions for clients.
  • Possesses effective communication skills.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills specifically within Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Adapts to changing work environments, work priorities and organizational needs.
  • Generates ideas for improvement, takes advantage of opportunities and suggests innovations.
  • Able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Able to identify and understand relevant emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Occasional travel required, approximately 5-10%.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
