About the role
AECOM Hunt has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Quality Director for our ground-up construction project in Cleveland, OH. The Quality Director serves as a resource to the project team.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a resource to the project team.
- Continuous, prioritized training and mentoring by the QA/QC Vice President.
- Participates in submittal and shop drawing reviews, initial trade pre-construction meetings, trade pre-installation meetings, and frequent job site walkthroughs and reporting.
- Oversees construction quality through the process until completion.
- Develops and facilitates quality training sessions/education.
- Leads job site pre-installation meetings with the teams and provides a solid level of competency with the processes.
- Leads the field of Quality and demonstrates leadership throughout the industry.
- Manages subcontractor quality plans - performs a review and gives detailed analysis and feedback to the subcontractor.
- Works with the Trade Contractor to create better plans for the specific tasks.
- If necessary, research building materials, ensures compliance of materials, suggests/incorporates changes in materials as necessary.
- Assists in the production of Quality presentations for staff and outside Architects & Engineers.
- Develops practical quality education opportunities for employees as required.
- Provides technical advice to field and office personnel and keeps accurate records of the conversations.
- Serves as a resource to project teams to identify potential quality issues and identify remediation.
- Assists in the development of Constructability reports.
- Enforces constructability reports.
- Establishes and maintains effective processes to achieve full participation in the corporate Quality Management Program.
- Maintains the Quality Program and moves the systems and processes forward based on Company protocols/policies and industry trends.
- Maintains and updates revisions of the Quality Program and associated quality policies and manual.
- Analyzes and issues summaries of overall loss analysis, trending reports, and quality metrics.
- Collaborates with the Project Team to develop job-specific quality procedures with the assistance of the Quality Department.
- Maintain strong understanding of various construction types and science concepts.
- Works with project managers to assist in developing scopes of work.
- Reviews field work, reporting and photographing work in place with the project team.
- Creates accurate reporting job site walkthrough, giving directions and suggestions to correct work-in-place.
- Affixes subcontractor Job Specific Quality Plan reviews.
- Maintains relationships with the Trade Contractor Quality individual or team.
- Collaborates with the Project Teams to ensure excellent customer service through quality procedures built upon continuous improvement and awareness of what is essential to our customers.
Requirements
- BS Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related curriculum and 10 years of professional Construction Quality Management experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
- Valid Driver’s License to operate an AECOM provided motor vehicle on construction project site(s) to support project tasks assignments and scope of work.
Qualifications
- Understanding of ASTM standards and knowledge of construction testing procedures.
- Understanding of the multiple building codes, requirements, etc.
- Experience in all construction-related trades, including building envelopes, life safety, interiors, MEP/FP.
- Experience in large construction, ground-up projects in: Sports/stadium/arena.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of construction quality management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
