Job Summary

The Food Service Facility Construction Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, design, construction, and delivery of food service facilities across a defined portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of food service construction projects from concept through opening and closeout

  • Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and forecasts

  • Monitor project performance and proactively address risks, delays, and cost impacts

  • Ensure timely completion of all milestones in alignment with client and business objectives

  • Partner with architects, engineers, and foodservice consultants to develop functional and efficient kitchen and café designs

  • Collaborate with culinary and operations teams to align layouts with workflow, service model, and capacity needs

  • Review and approve design deliverables, including schematic design, construction documents, and equipment plans

  • Ensure all designs meet applicable health, fire, ADA, and local regulatory requirements

  • Oversee construction activities, including contractor coordination, field inspections, and quality control

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, verify compliance, and resolve issues

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and punch lists to ensure timely project delivery

  • Ensure construction activities adhere to safety standards and building code requirements

  • Coordinate specification, procurement, and installation of food service equipment and systems

  • Oversee integration of MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, ventilation) required for food operations

  • Ensure proper commissioning and operational readiness of all kitchen and service areas prior to handoff

  • Develop detailed project budgets and manage ongoing cost tracking and reporting

  • Lead procurement activities for equipment, materials, and services

  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors to optimize cost, schedule, and quality outcomes

  • Serve as the primary liaison between:

    • Client stakeholders (e.g., facilities, real estate, leadership teams)
    • Internal partners (culinary, operations, procurement)
    • External partners (architects, consultants, contractors)
  • Lead project meetings, provide regular status updates, and escalate issues as appropriate

  • Ensure all projects meet health department, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements

  • Support opening readiness activities, including equipment testing, staff handoff, and operational validation

  • Maintain accurate documentation for all phases of the project lifecycle

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects across locations and phases

  • Align project delivery with broader portfolio strategies, client initiatives, and capital planning

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and cost efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction or facilities project management, preferably in:

    • Food service / hospitality environments
    • Commercial or institutional construction

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Construction management processes
    • Food service facility design and equipment systems
    • MEP infrastructure and building systems
  • Experience managing:

    • Budgets, schedules, and vendor contracts
    • Construction documentation (drawings, RFIs, submittals)
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality and execution excellence

  • Preferred certifications:

    • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • LEED Accreditation or sustainability-related certification

Working Conditions

Combination of office and on-site construction environments

Travel between project sites as required
