Job Responsibilities
- Serve as Single Point of Contact for Utility Service Providers responsible for all utility scope including transmission, distribution, and substation work
- Facilitate regular design and site progress meetings at least once per week with Energy Team, DCD, DCE, and AHJ stakeholders
- Maintain a contact matrix with division of responsibility for all utility groups involved in each project
- Ensure all utility and substation scope is signed off by DCE and Energy Project Managers, with drawings issued to stakeholders for review and approval via Adobe Sign or DocuSign
- Document and track all tasks including agreements, deeds, and easements required to ensure successful project completion aligned with project schedules
- Produce weekly reports on scope, schedule, and budget with key focus on critical path issues
- Inform Energy Project Managers of missed scope and verify all work is in scope prior to proceeding
- Track purchase orders, report on remaining funding at approximately 80% threshold, and establish budgets, cost estimates, and true-ups including contingency and not-to-exceed values
- Ensure all change orders are fully executed prior to proceeding with any new work, and route all new scope through the change management process
- Publish and maintain detailed project schedules in Microsoft Project, establishing predecessors with zero float and identifying critical path activities
- Publish key milestones for both internal and utility stakeholders, and provide weekly verification and updates of project schedules
- Verify Long Lead Equipment on-track and on-site dates, advise on schedule improvements, report delays, and provide mitigation solutions and recovery schedules with associated cost impacts
- Maintain weekly progress reports including site photographs submitted to Energy Project Managers
- Conduct weekly quality walks with photographic documentation and establish pre-construction site walks with all stakeholders
- Verify substation civil work is complete to utility specification and advise Energy Project Managers of any quality issues
- Champion safety as a core value, submit energization safety plans, establish pre-energization site walks with all stakeholders including on-site Energy Marshalls, and submit methods of procedure in advance for coordination with on-site teams
- Verify that the General Contractor has completed all scope downstream of the yard
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in consulting engineering or construction of substations
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a lead engineer, design manager, or project manager of transmission or substation projects
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with datacenter engineering or construction
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, or 10 years of equivalent experience in substation design and/or delivery
- Licensed Electrical Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) designation is strongly preferred
- Exceptional project management skills including scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
- High level of proficiency in transmission and substation design and construction
- Ability to lead and manage multiple utility provider teams of engineers and designers simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and a methodical work approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project for schedule development, maintenance, and critical path analysis
- Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam for engineering design review and markup workflows
- Experience with GIS mapping tools and document control systems
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with an even temperament and strong work ethic
- Demonstrated integrity and sound judgment in managing complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure programs
